Born and reared in Green Bay, Bill Berry graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. For many years he was a reporter and editor of several Central Wisconsin newspapers. At one point he was engaged as Public Relations Director for the three year Future of Farming and Rural Life study sponsored by the Wisconsin Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters. This report was instrumental in advancing the revised farmland preservation programs of the past decade.
Bill has used his contacts with the National Soil Conservation Service and American Farmland Trust to influence the public in the areas of land use and natural resource conservation. His opinions are regularly chronicled on the editorial pages of the Capital Times newspaper. Throughout his career Bill Berry has been a strong advocate for community development and planning. He lives his values of conserving and preserving in those areas that are difficult to replace.
