We started our series of neighborhood walks in South Madison, which are Monday-Thursday August 3-6 and next week, August 10-13 from 12:00-1:00 starting from the south library on Park Street.

The walks are intended to bring neighbors together to discuss how we can create places that build community.
On Monday, we found that crossing Park Street is difficult at controlled intersections and dangerous where there are no stoplights. We found some open spaces that have potential for placemaking projects.
On Tuesday, we strolled through the Burr Oaks neighborhood, stopping to discuss the rain and food gardens at Lincoln Elementary school along the way. We learned that a large vacant lot is going to be developed into apartments and finally discussed the ins and outs of parking at the Villager Mall.
There are six more walks and then placemaking projects will follow!
