Else Ankel, a resident of the Cambridge Woods Neighborhood, was instrumental in the founding of the Urban Ecology Center located at Riverside Park. She has promoted not only the Urban Ecology Center and their mission; she was also instrumental in founding the neighborhood association adjacent to the Cambridge Woods, and fostering cooperation among the other neighborhood associations on Milwaukee’s east side to help keep this area interact.
Else, as one of the founding members of the Urban Ecology Center, has shown the neighborhood and the city the value of preserving the remaining wild areas of Milwaukee. Through her efforts she has shown others that a single person or small group can in fact contribute greatly to their neighborhood, their city and beyond.
