Plain Talk: Obstructionists aside, train travel soars

So nobody rides trains, eh?

That’s the message those geniuses on Milwaukee talk radio and their favorite Republican, Scott Walker, gave us early last year as they successfully scuttled expansion of passenger rail in Wisconsin that would have connected the state’s capital city to the rest of the country via Milwaukee and Chicago.

Indeed, had it not been for these obstructionists and their gullible, fact-challenged followers, Madison would be poised to join the national rail network this very moment. Additionally, the state would be enjoying the fruits of the several hundred jobs that the expansion, along with a Talgo passenger car factory in Milwaukee, would have provided. And that’s not to mention that the resources to make that happen wouldn’t have cost the state a dime.
