A plan to lease space in a city-owned building to Spanish train manufacturer Talgo won final approval Wednesday morning from the Milwaukee Common Council.
The council voted 13-1 to lease around 133,600 square feet in a city-owned building at the former Tower Automotive complex to Talgo. The only vote opposing the lease was from Ald. Joe Dudzik.
Talgo plans to open the facility, north of W. Townsend St. and west of N. 27th St., by July. It eventually will employ 125 people. The space is being leased at $2.59 a square foot for two years, with extension options for another six years.
