Working Lands

1000 Friends was a key partner in the development of Wisconsin’s Working Lands Initiative to preserve farmland for future generations.

Wisconsin’s Working Lands Initiative was signed into law in 2009 and is comprised of the following three programs:

• Farmland Preservation Program
• Agricultural Enterprise Area (AEA) Program
• Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement (PACE) Program

The Working Lands Initiative was developed with the assistance of the Working Lands Steering Committee which issued its final report in August of 2005.
