In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22, 1970), we wanted to share Bud Jordahl’s tribute to Earth Day founder, Gaylord Nelson. Senator Nelson and Bud are true conservation and natural resource protection legends in Wisconsin and they were both instrumental in the forming of 1000 Friends of Wisconsin back in 1996. At the time, Senator Nelson said, “We have an historic opportunity to impact land use policy in Wisconsin and to reverse the trend toward more sprawl. 1000 Friends of Wisocnsin is determined not to let this opportunity slip by. through research, legislative advocacy and public education, 1000 Friends is turning the tide in the fight against sprawl.”
