On Friday March 8th, Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that Federal Highway Administration approved the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the I-94 East/West project in Milwaukee.
WisDOT selected their preferred alternative as the 8-lane expansion, despite our coalition advocating for the highway to be reconstructed with its existing 6 lanes and increasing transit services.
In January, our coalition hoped a Record of Decision for the project would be delayed pending the investigation of a Title IV civil rights complaint.
To say this decision is disappointing is an understatement. We will share more when we have gathered more information.
